Mine died just before christmas. Within a week I got a new one. Didn't get a free game though :( Within the 2,5 years I've had my xbox I've upgraded my pc twice just to be able to play the games I like on the pc and run a newer version of the OS on it. Total cost: about €750. I haven't come across a single PC game in recent history that I really wanted to play. As much as I hate the fact that I have to send it in for repair, it´s a small sacrifice to get it back to work again. Maybe you should get another gaming platform; one that lets you replace faulty hardware on your own and doesn't get 'red rings of death'. It's also upgradable and has a superior controller setup called the 'mouse and keyboard'. You might want to look into it.
